About Me
About sections are weird. How much does a random stranger on the internet want to know? How much do I feel comfortable putting out there? The answer to both of those questions is "too much". But you've got things to do and I don't want to make the carbon footprint of this website too large so...
I was born and raised in Minnesota. Born in Duluth, and raised in the suburbs north of Minneapolis. When it came time to leave the nest I headed south for the warmth of Phoenix, Arizona.
Not having to scrape my car's windshield, shovel snow, or own snow pants agrees with me.
Author's note: Much like the weather in Phoenix my sense of humor is very dry. That will come in handy when reading this section.
I've worked a lot of random jobs in my life and I feel like those experiences have helped shaped me into who I am, even if they're not relevant on my resume any more. So here's a quick list:
I graduated university with a degree in video game design and entered the workforce in the booming economy of mid-2008 America. (That's a joke, for those who are unaware that the economy crashed in 2008 and millions of people lost their homes and jobs). Video game design was interesting to me, but it proved to be a very difficult industry to break into, so instead I turned my sights to web design and development. My favorite part of university was designing and developing my portfolio website so I took the skills learned there and found a job at a small marketing/dev agency in Phoenix.
I'll keep this brief because you can always look at my resume and case study to see where I've worked and what I've done.
Hobbies, I've got em. I love doing things with my hands. Taking things apart, putting things together, making new things, restoring things and... occasionally breaking things.
The Valley is a great place to explore so I spend a lot of time with my family checking out what oddities the area has to offer. Breweries, restaurants, mountains, cocktail bars, hiking trails, bike paths, concerts... we get around.
I'm a homebody at heart though; and while we're home I enjoy video games, creating cocktails, building lego with our son, cooking, watching movies and tv, and restoring whatever the latest thing is we've found at a thrift shop.
